Automatic post-processing with the Zortrax Apoller – An intelligent vaporizer that smoothes your 3D prints

The Zortrax Apoller is an intelligent steam smoothing device that automatically smoothes visible layers of FFF/FDM-3D prints. This intelligent vaporizer works with both acetone and MEK. The smoothing process is fully automated and controlled by smart proprietary algorithms. These control and regulate the temperature, pressure and concentration of solvent vapors in the Apoller precisely at all times.

 

First, your model must be placed in the smoothing chamber. Then the chamber is heated sufficiently to evaporate the solvent inside the Apollo. The vapors are then spiraled upwards to cover your component evenly.

 

The solvent vapors condense on the object surfaces and leave a glossy or matt surface, depending on the filament used. After the smoothing process is ready the Zortrax Apoller dries your 3D prints. So they're ready to go right out of the chamber.

 

The entire weekly production of 4 typical FFF/FDM 3D printers can be automatically smoothed within a day. The safety systems are designed to meet the stringent requirements of ATEX Directive 2014/34/EC on the control of equipment intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.

Speed and ease of use for post-processing your 3D prints

Your models must be placed in a double sealed smoothing chamber of 300x250x250 mm. The settings are then selected via an intuitive touch screen. Once this is done, the Zortrax Apoller takes only 3 hours to evenly smooth all models in its chamber.

SVS technology

The Zortrax Apoller's SVS technology is based on advanced proprietary algorithms that measure and control the temperature, pressure and concentration of solvent vapors in a double-sealed, airtight smoothing chamber. The pressure in the chamber is kept below ambient pressure at all times. This prevents harmful vapors from escaping and damaging your health.

Quality and efficiency

Fumes inside the smoothing chamber are circulated upwards to evenly coat your models. The even distribution of the mist ensures that all surfaces are evenly wetted and chemically smoothed. Once the smoothing process is completed, the Zortrax Apoller lowers the temperature inside the installation space, condenses the excess solvent and is returned to the tank. A 300 ml bottle of acetone or MEK can be reused for several smoothings. This saves costs and conserves resources to the maximum.
